Recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month
The COVID 19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter’s protests, the Presidential election, the January 6th assault on the nation’s Capitol Building, and many other stressful events of the past 15 months have impacted the mental health needs of people across diverse identities and communities. No one is immune to mental health challenges and talking about mental health and seeking support needs to be normalized as more people struggle to access care. Alaska Psychological Association is committed to de-stigmatizing mental health and supporting all our communities and all Alaskans. We hope that the list of resources below may be helpful.
- National Alliance on Mental Illness’s MHAM resources
- APA’s MHAM resources for psychologists and patients
- Mental Health Month, including Tools 2 Thrive resources, from Mental Health America
- Free access to mental health research this month from Taylor & Francis
- American Hospital Association’s MHAM resources, including podcasts, case studies, and tools
- Alaska Department of Health and Social Services Coronavirus Response Hub
